In Paris, blood-thirsty thief, Roger Sartet (Delon), escapes from custody with the help of a well-organised Sicilian Mafia clan, headed by Vittorio (Gabin), and they all get involved in a plan to rob a diamond exhibition in Rome.  Sartet is pursued by Commissaire Le Goff (Ventura)
